Freshman Admission Checklist

In order to be admitted to the University of Louisville School of Music, prospective undergraduate students must meet the School of Music admission requirements:
- Minimum cumulative GPA of 2.75
- Minimum score of ACT 21 or 1060 SAT, if test scores are submitted (test scores are optional)
- Perform a successful audition. In addition, prospective Composition, Music & New Media and Theory majors must also submit a portfolio of work. All Music Therapy applicants will also conduct an interview and vocal assessment.
Submit the following documentation to the Office of Undergraduate Admissions:
- Completed application for admission, including a $25 non-refundable application fee. There is no additional application or fee for the School of Music. Be sure to select your specific music major. Once you have applied, the School of Music will be notified of your application.
- Official high school transcript
- Official ACT or SAT scores, if submitting test scores. If the scores are listed on your high school transcript, it will be accepted as an official score. All SAT scores will be converted to an ACT COMP score using CR+M. UofL does not superscore. Test scores are optional for admission.
To be eligible for School of Music Scholarship money:
- All applicants that select a music degree on their admission application and complete the audition process by Mar. 1 are eligible for music scholarships. The School of Music bases awards on several factors including musical talent, academic achievement and priorities in instrumentation. Awards are highly competitive. To be eligible for some of the University’s competitive/mentored scholarships, the application and materials must be submitted by December 15.
ALL of the above MUST be submitted before the School of Music can admit a student or make a scholarship offer.
