Sidebar
The Studio X UofL Electro-Acoustic Ensemble is a student-led ensemble established in 2024 that explores both commercial and contemporary electro-acoustic music, live electronics, improvisation, and interdisciplinary performance. Students perform using laptops, tablets, synthesizers, sensors, controllers, and acoustic instruments, often combining technology with creative experimentation. The ensemble provides a space for students to develop both technical and artistic skills while exploring new possibilities for musical expression.
Through performances, collaborations, and creative research, the ensemble encourages students to engage with emerging technologies and innovative approaches to music-making while developing their own artistic voices.
Since its founding, the ensemble has presented a diverse repertoire at major conferences and festivals, including the International Computer Music Conference (ICMC), the Missouri Experimental Sonic Arts Festival (MOXsonic), and the Studio 300 Digital Art and Music Festival. The ensemble has also been featured as special visiting ensemble at institutions such as the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music and Ball State University, as well as world-renowned venues including Carnegie Hall.
