Composition student experiences
October 28, 2025
Our composition students have recently had great opportunities for travel and creating pieces for performances across the United States.
In September, during the week of the United Nations Conference, our composition major students (Kamil Pędziwiatr, Kinga Wójcik and Jenna Nydam) worked on a concert held by the United Nations and China Media Group (China Central Television) at Alice Tully Hall, Lincoln Center. Their musical arrangements were performed by violinist Randall Goosby, Metropolitan Opera House artist William Guanbo Su, vocalist Kameron Lopreore, vocalist Efraín Solís, the New York International Symphony Orchestra and Choir, the United Nations Symphony Orchestra, the United Nations Singers and pianist Lang Lang.
This event was also reported by China Central Television as an important news item and by English-based platforms such as Yahoo Finance.
Music pieces composed by the Electro Acoustic Ensemble were also selected by several music festivals and conferences. Composition students and faculty attended the Studio 300 Music Festival at Transylvania University in early October, the 2025 International Computer Music Conference in Boston over the summer, and the 2025 MOXsonic (The Missouri Experimental Sonic Arts Festival) last semester.
Coming up, students from the Electro Acoustic Ensemble will prepare several installations for Halloween week. Faculty members Yunze Mu and Lorna Segall designed an interactive music sand tray therapy system, it will also be exhibited at the School of Music during Halloween week and New Music Festival.
