Our music education alumni are thriving in secondary schools, private studios, and higher education, while our music therapy graduates have achieved a 100% national job placement rate.
Academics
All studios engage in weekly studio class, and instrument exclusive ensembles that meet twice weekly. Brass ensembles have standing relationships with staple institutions in the greater Louisville area and through southern Indiana, performing at various venues throughout the year.
In each studio, music literature and brass pedagogy are offered on a rotating basis and are required for some degree programs. Recitals are also required for some degree programs. A barrier exam will take place at the end of the student’s second year.
Students have access to period and auxiliary instruments that are owned by our university such as sackbuts, natural horns, triple and descant horns, and baroque trumpets. A historic brass trumpet ensemble is offered and coached by Dr. Reese Land.
