This spring, four winners shared the stage with the University Symphony Orchestra, Kimcherie Lloyd, Director, as part of the 2025 Huang Concerto Competition.

"The aria competition was such a fulfilling experience during my time here at the School of Music. Going into the competition, I had no expectations of what could happen, and just decided I was going to do my best and have fun. I am normally not one to join voice competitions (and even my voice teacher, Emily Albrink, was surprised!),  but something told me to give this one a shot. I sang "Questa O Quella" from Rigoletto. I was honestly shocked when I found out I had won alongside graduate student Megan Jacobs. Anytime I can sing with an orchestra after hearing the piano reduction is such an exciting time for myself. I am grateful that our school and Orchestra can do events like this, and I hope I get to sing with more orchestras in the future!" - Jackson Scott

In addition to Jackson Scott, other student winners included Natalie DeSimone, who performed Aaron Copland's Clarinet Concerto; Megan Jacobs, who performed the "Controller’s Aria" from Flight by Jonathan Dove; and Pratchayakorn Yata, who performed Edward Grieg's Piano Concerto.

Prize winners' awards are courtesy of the Dr. Tsu and Fuh Huang Concerto Competition Endowment. We are grateful for their generous investment in our students' success with this exceptional performance opportunity.
